Introduction to the Speaker

Please feel free to use the following biography in your publicity materials when promoting an event featuring Xochitl Dixon.

Xochitl (So-Cheel) E. Dixon stole her first Bible. In 1992, before she surrendered her life to Christ, her in-laws started giving her copies of Our Daily Bread. She reluctantly accepted the quarterly magazines and now rejoices when considering how God used them to prepare her to receive Christ as her Savior in December 2001.

When she first started going to church, she used to sit by the exit door with a scowl on her face and a few big chips on her shoulders. Soon after, she became known for greeting people with big hugs and cards with handwritten prayers.

After that life-transforming moment when she surrendered her life to Christ in front of the washing machine in her garage, God began changing her bit by bit. She now has a heart for prayer, loving God, loving people, and nurturing spiritual growth through prayer and the study and application of Scripture.
She also pays for her own Bibles and often buys Bibles for others.

She’s ministered to women and teens for over 15 years and served as a youth ministry leader and Bible study teacher with her husband for almost a decade. In 2012, when a worsening back injury minimized her mobility, she began her “armchair ministry.”

She praises God for the pleasure and privilege of sharing His truth and love wherever and whenever He gives her the opportunity . . . whether it’s from her recliner or during the divine appointments she experiences during local outings or traveling.

Xochitl currently serves as an Our Daily Bread writer and is the author of Waiting for God: Trusting God’s Plan and Pace (Discovery House, 2019).

Her devotions have been included in Guideposts’ All God’s Creatures (2019, 2021), And He Walks with Us (2019), Moments of Peace for Moms (2019), What Really Matters (2019), God Hears Her (Discovery House, 2017), Our Help (Discovery House, 2017), and This Far by Faith: Legacies of the Black Church (Discovery House, 2017).

She has published articles in Second-Chance Dogs (Revell, 2018), My Amazing Mom (Chicken Soup for the Soul, 2018), Keys for Kids’ teen magazine, Unlocked, and LIVE Magazine. She’s celebrating the upcoming release of her first children’s picture book, Different from Me (Discovery House Publishers, 2020).

She shares with transparency and explores how God empowers His people to live with courage and confidence, within the freedom of surrender to and dependence on Christ in all circumstances.

In August 2018, Xochitl supported her best friend and husband, Dr. W. Alan Dixon, Sr., by moving from California to Wisconsin. As she continues trusting the Lord while adjusting to life in the Midwest, she battles chronic pain daily.

She thanks God for the ongoing support from her husband, her sons, AJ and Xavier, her service dog, Callie, her awesome praying-physician, Dr. Choi and his wife, Patty, and her loving Community Church family, led by Pastor Adam and Jill Utecht.

She enjoys singing, photography, dog-training, traveling, and sharing God’s truth and love to the ends of the earth . . . not in that order. Promoting peace and dependence on God’s immeasurable grace, Xochitl prays we will join her in worshipping God in the wait . . . one breath at a time . . . until Jesus returns.
