How God Used the Christian Writers Seminar to Advance My Writing Career

Cancun Aug 2012 201Years ago, I learned that mother Eagles place thorns on the rim of their nests before sending their chicks on their final training flight into the big blue yonder.

At first, I thought that was cruel. Then one day, I realized that the mother Eagles knew their babies were ready to fly.

The mother Eagle faithfully feeds each chick and teaches them how to fly as God strengthens their wings.

The Christian Writers Seminar was like a mother Eagle to me.

I never expected God would use a local writer’s seminar, priced at under $100.00, to give me courage to test my wings and fly into the next season of my writing career.

The critiques and the workshops equipped me to sharpen my writing and taught me more about the publishing industry.

Each facilitator shared their insight and inspired me to continue honing my craft.

This local conference helped me gain confidence as I applied what I learned in the workshops.

I was encouraged to believe in my work.

I was inspired by the fellowship and equipped by the teaching.

God used The Christian Writers Seminar to strengthen my wings, nudge me out of my safety nest, and prepare me to soar into the Redwoods (the setting of the Mount Hermon conference).

With the tips I learned at The Christian Writers Seminar, I was able to rewrite and sell my first short story to an editor I met at the Mount Hermon conference, only one month later.

After receiving encouragement from a facilitator at the Christian Writers Seminar, God gave me the courage to pitch my book idea to an editor at Mount Hermon in 2011.

That proposal is currently being reviewed by an agent. And I’ve already received an endorsement from a best-selling author for the book, an author who I met through The Christian Writers Seminar.

This will be my third year attending The Christian Writers Seminar. I look forward to seeing what God is going to teach me as I fellowship with local Christian writers.

Are you ready to test out your wings as a writer and soar for the glory of God?

If so, I invite you to join me at the 2013 Christian Writers Seminar, in Castro Valley, California on February 22-23.

Register today, for only $99.00, and please share this link. You never know if God’s been stirring up a story in the heart of a friend who’s always dreamed of using writing as a tool for ministry.

Christian Writers Seminar: Priceless Rewards for a Minimal Cost

Inspire - Jon Drury Interview - Jan 2012 - 3 with BethI’ve been attending the Christian Writers Seminar (CWS) for the last two years and have experienced priceless rewards. Here is a photo taken at the 2012 CWS, featuring Beth Thompson and John Vonhof, with this year’s keynote speaker, Jan Coleman.

And here are the top five reasons that keep me coming back to this amazing local and affordable conference:

1. My platform increased by over 300% after I incorporated tips I learned in a CWS workshop.

2. I’ve been inspired and blessed with a prayerful network of writing friends.

3. The facilitators encouraged me to continue honing my craft and to believe in my writing.

4. I am reminded that writing is a valuable tool for ministry within the kingdom of God.

5. I’ve witnessed God’s working in and through the conference staff, volunteers, and conferees.

With more than 35 workshops to choose from, the Christian Writers Seminar is a wonderful place for new writers to get started, for seasoned writers to get refreshed and reconnected, and for struggling writers to be revitalized and supported.

My heart grieved when I was forced to accept that I couldn’t afford attending this year’s weekend event. By the grace of God, two very special people, who I met at the 2011 Christian Writers Seminar, offered to sponsor my participation in this year’s event.

Once again, God allowed me to see Him working through His people. Praise the Lord!

He made a way for me to attend this year. And He can make a way for you to attend!

He obviously has something for me to learn at this year’s conference. So, I’m excited and ready to learn. And I hope you’ll join me.

The 2013 Christian Writers Seminar in Castro Valley, California is scheduled for February 22-23, featuring Jan Coleman as our keynote speaker.

Registration is only $99, if you register before February 15th.

The reward for this investment will be priceless as God develops your skills as a writer and opens doors to use those skills to minister to His people.
